It's been FOREVER...

since I had a chance to blog!  Life at the Surface household has been quite busy.  I'll just share with you some things the kids have been up to.  A couple of weekends ago, Chris took the kids to the airshow.  They went with some neighbors/good friends of ours.  Kate and Noah are both terrified of loud noises, which proved to be a problem.  Papa tried to come to the rescue and gave Noah and Kate their own set of work ear muffs.  (of course he painted Kate's pink).  Chris said they did pretty well at the airshow, except when the "bombs" went off.  They were about to get in to the moonwalk and the fake bombs went off.  Chris explained to Noah that they were fake and the smoke was fake too.  A while later Noah said, "man, daddy, for fake airplanes they sure go fast!"  Yesterday Noah kept asking about the "blue angels" and their bombs.  Chris had to explain it for almost 30 minutes about how bombs work.  Crazy boy!

The next day we went to a work party for Chris's new job.  It was at a ranch and the kids had a pretty good time.  They got to play minature golf, swing, eat good bar-b-que and go on a pony ride (which neither one did, but Kate got closer than Noah!!)

Then that evening it was off to the 3rd Annual pumpkin carving contest.  Last year, apparently, my sister-in-law (Megan) "won" (even though I carved out the dr. pepper emblem on a pumpkin.. and she just stacked pumpkins on top of each other and cut out paper.. whatever, I'm not bitter) so this year, I pulled out all the stops.  There was NO WAY I was going to lose!  So I made a Palin pumpkin.  She had a wig, a gun (that had shot a moose), an american flag, and her famous up-do!  I carved her face and FINALLY WON!!!  (shoot, I almost just burned down my kitchen making tortillini!!)  alright, back to the post.  Yes, the pumpkin rocked and I WON!  We even had a non-biased judge (thanks, "Auntie K" aka. Kyrenda Lampton)  who didn't know which pumpkin was which...  I will post pictures when I can get some.  I was so busy carving that I didn't take any on my camera!  Oh, the kids did pretty cute pumpkins too, but that night was ALL ABOUT My PALIN PUMPKIN!!!  (I'm such a good mom!)
Then this weekend was Halloween.  My kids were so cute!!  We had Mr. Incredibles, a princess "meow" (she started out just as a "meow" but wanted to wear her tiara.. so we made it a Princess Meow..")....  (hold up, tortillini is ready...), and then Kara was a bumble-bee... so stinkin' cute!  We ran by mimi and papa's,

memaw and pawpaws,
 went by the Malloys house,

and then went back to our house where we met up with the Mooneys and all the kids went trick-or-treating together.

It was halarious!  Noah and Sophie got to the doors first, followed by Luke the chicken, and then four hours later the Princess Meow finally made it!  They had a blast and were so excited to get to go together.  Noah has been missing Sophie like crazy since school started!  He told me Sophie looked beautiful in her princess fairy costume!  So cute!!
The next morning at 330 I woke up with a stomach virus and it was the worst ever.  Now Chris has it.  It's so fun over here!!  Anyone wanna come by?? haha!  Well, I must go eat my tortillini before it gets bad!
