5 hours 7 hours.. same thing.... NOT

A couple of weeks ago, we packed up the kids and headed for Gainesville, TX.  (I should ACTUALLY say that NOAH packed himself a week in advance and left his suitcases in the middle of the floor... for the entire week.  When I tried to put them back in his room, he would freak and take them back out).  Gainesville is a little town about 30 - 45 minutes away from the Oklahoma border.  This is where my Grandpa Spires lives.  Although, Noah has renamed him to "big Papa".  Which is pretty funny because my grandpa is NOT big.  at all.  So anyways, the Spires' (my mom's fam.) was having a family reunion, so we decided to go.  My kids LOVE to go up to Gainesville.  My grandpa has a HUGE field in his back yard where they can just run, play, and kick a ball around.  They love to run with my dad and Chris.  I actually thought only Noah remembered who "big Papa" was, and I made the mistake of telling Kate that she didn't remember who he was, to which she replied, "I DO TOO.  HE GIVES ME POPSICLES!!!"  (wow.  my daughter doesn't remember anything profound, just the fact that he has popsicles.  guess i can't say much though.. I used to remember the push-ups he would have in his freezer waiting for our arrival.)
So, a car trip that is supposed to take 4.5- 5 hours, ended up taking 7 hours.  You wouldn't think 2 hours is that much longer.  It is.  Two LOOOONG hours.  Two added hours of: I HAVE TO PEE, SHE IS LOOKING AT ME, HE IS LOOKING AT ME, THE DVD ISN'T WORKING, I HAVE TO PEE, ARE WE THERE YET, I HAVE TO POOP, ARE WE THERE YET?, WHY IS KARA CRYING?, KARA IS HUNGRY, ARE WE THERE YET?, CAN I STOP AND GET A GPS?, ARE WE THERE YET?  I STILL HAVE TO POOP, STOP SPITTING, ARE WE THERE YET?   (*note all the ARE WE THERE YETS were from me and the *gps comment was from Chris)  OH, I guess I forgot to tell you WHY we were two hours behind schedule.  We hit Dallas before the traffic and were driving along just fine.  We got on I35 and headed towards Denton.  Suddenly I saw a BRAND NEW TEXAS STADIUM!  I wondered when they built it.  I asked Chris and he had no clue.  We discussed how things have changed in the last 10 months since we have been up there.  I was amazed that they changed the road name from I35 to Texas 113.  You would think something like a major road change would be on the news or something, but it wasn't.  Hmmm.. did that sign just say ARLINGTON??  uh oh, I think we might be on the wrong road.  When did that happen?  This is when Chris started to want a GPS, but me being the mean wife would NOT let him get one.  We finally turned around and found our LONG way back to Dallas and then on to Gainesville.
I have NEVER been so happy to see my Grandpa's driveway in my entire life...
I have a kid that just pooped her pants, a baby crying to eat, and a son... well...  being himself, so I must go..  Will do the exciting part 2 when my life calms down...
