This last weekend we traveled to Gainesville, TX for a Spires Family reunion, which is my mom's side of the family. We had so much fun at Big Papa's house (that's what my kids call my grandpa). My Aunt and Uncle brought their entire family to the reunion and we had a blast. My grandpa has a HUGE field in his backyard, so all the cousins ran around, flew kites, played kickball, jail house, and elves and ogres (whatever that is!). The "kids" ranged in age from 20 all the way down to 6 months. They all played together and had so much fun. I only wish that we all lived closer. My kids can't wait until the next time they get to play Elves and Ogres with their cousins. On Sunday we got the privledge of going to my grandpa's church and hearing him preach. He preaches in a little country church with the high attendance of about 20, but those people have more love, heart, and knowledge than most of us down here. They are the kindest, most giving people you will ever meet in your life. Church went really well with all the kiddos (with the exception of my sweet Boosie walking down the aisle to her cousin, Addison, and telling her, "SHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!", walking back up the aisle and sitting back down with us -- mind you this was all AFTER she threw a fit herself-- and Addison wasn't even throwing a fit, she was just talking and agreeing with Big Papa-- Oh. sweet. boosie.). That was the day of the "real" family reunion. We didn't stay too long at that because we were just really excited to see my aunt and uncle and cousins. So, we went back to the hotel, swam, rested and then back to my grandpa's for more kite flying fun.
I'm so thankful for that time with the entire family. We had so much fun and hope to see them all again REAL. SOON. Love you guys!!!
