Yesterday was Noah's first day of school, as it was many other kids as well. Noah was VERY difficult to get out of bed, and yes, I did have to resort to singing... I know, I know, not the best way to start out his first day of school.. but a mama's got to do what a mama's got to do!!! We finally got him up, but heaven forbid, I picked a button down shirt with a collar on it to wear to school. WHAT was I thinking?? How DARE I pick such a nice shirt to wear. After all, this is 1st grade where grunge is good and nice is bad (oh how I remember those days...). So after we got his clothes settled, he ate breakfast and actually took a much better first day of school picture! Last year I remember it was a fight to get him to take a first day of school pic. but not this year. I look at this picture and I'm amazed. He is a big BOY now. His kinder first day of school picture looked so baby compared to this picture. He has 6 adult teeth now. Last year he had all his baby teeth! It's amazing what one year can do.
He kept saying that he didn't want us to walk him to his class, but I pulled the mommy card and told him that it was the rules and I HAD to walk him to class. I guess I'm not quite ready to let him grow up ALL that much!! It's funny though because Chris went in late so he could help me walk him in with the girls and when we got there Noah DEFINITELY wanted us walking him in!! The traffic was SO terrible that it took us 20 minutes (and we live about 2 minutes from the school) to get to the bus parking lot.. that's not even to get the car rider line! By the time we got there, poor thing was tardy, but so was about half of the school. They must do something about the terrible traffic! He was the last one in his class, but his teacher was so sweet about it. He walked right in and barely turned around to say "BYE!" (sniff, sniff..).
When I picked him up yesterday, I noticed how baby all the kindergartners looked. I saw how tiny they looked waiting for their mommys to get them, and then realized Noah didn't look all that small anymore waiting on his momma to get him (again.. sniff, sniff). I'm just amazed how much they grow from kinder to first. They really aren't the "babies" anymore. Anyways, I asked him how his day went and he gave me a thumbs down and had tears in his eyes. He has a bully in his class (see previous post) and apparently he wouldn't leave him alone all day. We talked about it and this morning he seemed excited to go to school, so hopefully we are having a good day right now!! Wish me luck for when I pick him up today!!! :)
