resolutions

I've NEVER done new year's resolutions. Nothing like setting your standards high, huh!? Well, this year I think for the first time, I'm going to make some resolutions. I guess I always thought, why make 'em?? People just break them!.. that might be true, and most definitely true for me.. I'm the type of person that gets all excited in the beginning, but then fades.. and fades pretty quickly. Take the house for instance. I will get in this great routine.. and even kept it up for a month (I know some of you are like.. only a month??? but for me.. that was a HUGE deal. I mean it was "company clean" at all times for a month...) and then it all came crashing down.. and I never did get caught up! Things like that always happen to me! SO, I'm thinking maybe.. just maybe.. by writing it in my blog it will help me stay accountable.. (I'm laughing really hard at myself right now!) So here we go!!

1. Become a better wife and mother. I know I might shock some of you here (ha ha ha), but sometimes I might have a slight temper. I really need to work on this. I need to do that famous "count to 10 before my head starts spinning" thing. As we speak right now, I'm yelling at my children to stop yelling downstairs for freakin' cups of juice to drink at bedtime!!! So, really this resolution-thingy doesn't start until I hit post. So I'm allowed to be as impatient as I want to be right now. I also need to be a better wife. I think being a mommy, I am constantly solving problems and having people tug on me all day, so when Chris comes home and asks me one simple question like "what are you doing?" I might blow up a tad and blow the entire thing out of proportion. (I know.. again.. some of you are shocked at this revelation!!).

2. Become a better housekeeper ... again.. I'm laughing, but I would LOVE to be able to welcome company in my house on a whim without getting blotchy from embarrassment that our house is crazy messy. Yes, I have 3 kids, but I also know that there are times when I could be cleaning, and instead, I'm on the computer. I need to fully embrace that cleaning the house is part of my job (I think I just threw up in my mouth a little...). I really think that if I can get this "beast" under control, that I will feel more relaxed and be able to play with my kids more which will make them in a better mood, thus making me happier, which will lead to a happier wife, which will lead to a happier husband and then goal #1 is accomplished.. shew...

3. I'm crying writing this one... my heart is pounding.. don't. want. to. write. it. o.k.. I will:
drink less Dr. Pepper :( I think I need to go down to 1 a day. A 12 pack is fun and all.. but does get expensive.. . 1 a day should do! I know that this one will probably be one of the first resolutions that will be broken!! Dr. Pepper makes me happy. The fizz, the smell, the 24 flavors... ahh, I could go on, but that will make me want another one, and I already had my one for the day!

4. GET BETTER AT BLOGGING!!! I want to blog more often. I like blogging, just get busy or lazy... But there are things that I should have blogged about and just let them pass... I suck at scrapbooking.. the whole "time" thing gets in my way, but this doesn't take near as long as scrapbooking.. so I need to get better at it.

5. Take a shower more than 1 time a week.. hahaha.. just kiddin' .. or am I???

6. Not get pregnant! hahaha. It seems like when my kids are around 18-24 months, I get preggo with another one. Well, Kara is 18 mo. and we are good with our family of 5!! :)

7. Get healthier. I need to start cooking healthier. I need to take vitamins. I bought vitamins the other day, but then found out they have some weird ingredient that you can't have if you have high blood pressure. SO now I have to go find me some new ones.. ugh. I also need to work out. Last year I did the Jillian Michaels workout for a good 2-3 months, and it was awesome. but like everything else, I stopped. It was when I got the flu last year. I was out for a good week, and never got back in the routine. ugh.

8. Get my house in some sort of decorated order. 'nuff said

I think I will start with those 8. Those are 8 big ones. I will post along the way with how I am doing with these resolutions. I hope I can accomplish at least one of them!! :)

Did you take one of your new vitamins before you wrote that?

I think you can get your kids in on the house cleaning one. Just tell them that if they don't vacumn, mop, dust, do the dishes, laundry, etc......Santa won't come. I think it would have worked on me as a kid.

Oh...and I think they have Dr.Pepper gum just in case you get REALLY desperate.

Just a thought.....

Those are great resolutions. I also don't make resolutions for fear of failure! :o)...and like to keep my expectations low.
