stone ages

I obviously wrote this when we still didn't have internet in the old house....

So, not having internet for two weeks has really driven me crazy!  I’m writing this on Microsoft Word and when I finally get internet, I will post it on my blog.  But, I guess if you are reading this, I finally have internet..  yay (although, saying yay right now, I’m not excited, seeing as at this moment in time, I have no internet.. )

When the internet became really popular (at least that I can remember) I was in highschool, and that Sandra Bullock movie, THE NET, came out.  It wasn’t until I graduated COLLEGE that I found out that movie was about the internet and not some contraption she got caught in…  anyways, we will leave that alone.  I remember when I first got the internet.  I was SO excited.  I bought a Gateway computer with my graduation money (from High school..).  I remember I chose Gateway because they had the cow boxes and I thought it was so cool!  My dad and I went to the Gateway store and “built our own computer”  which means, the man at the store looks at you and decides what you need and how much YOU need to spend.  Whatever, I got my cow boxes so I didn’t care!  About a LONG week later, my cows arrived.  I was so happy that I could finally have a way to keep in touch with my friends that decided to go off to college and leave me at home.  I set up the internet and chose my very first screen name.. Lizette332 (yes, I was THAT cool!).  It was so cool that I could finally talk to my friends.  We would stay up so late all talking, I would have 10 “chat boxes” open at once.  My mom would come in amazed that I could actually talk to these people on the computer.  I kept telling her that I would set her up with an email account, but she just told me it was “too complicated” and she wouldn’t understand it.  (This is the same lady that now has an email, facebook, and blog..  she’s come a long way!).  I remember logging on the computer at all hours of the night.  I would put a blanket, and a pillow over the computer, so the loud screechy sound that it made wouldn’t wake up my parents!  It’s amazing when you think about it, how long computers have come just since I got my FIRST computer.. amazing.

Now my computer is so much a part of my life.  I pay bills, email, facebook, blog, search the net, take a “reality break” all on the machine.  Now, I have been going to my parents house to pay bills and email.  Sure my dad makes me pay 10.00 a usage, but it’s well worth it!  Although, since I haven’t had a computer in my life lately, I have kept up with the laundry better.. and the dishes.. but shhhh, don’t tell!  Chris might make me get rid of it.  Hopefully he didn’t notice.

As I’m writing this it is Wednesday and we get the keys to the new place Friday evening.  I can’t wait!  We will have some much needed space.  To actually have some breathing around here will be so nice for the mental stability!  I’m just wondering if I will be able to keep it clean.  It’s hard enough in the 1100 sqft. house we have…  hmmm.. . I have a feeling the internet MIGHT be taken away from me after all!

Girl! You need to get the iPhone so you don't even NEED a computer anymore! I do ALL that stuff from my phone. I even paid bills during a graduation ceremony!

Hey! So glad you're all moved in and everything. Your posts crack me up....yes, I distinctly remember being in high school and having internet at our house for the first time. It was so archaic...hard to believe how fast things have changed. We'll talk soon about Megan's shower....

PS. I love the story about Kate in her bedroom and Jesus falling out of her heart!
