I guess it was two nights ago now, maybe three, that Noah woke up in the middle of the night saying that bugs were biting him and he was itching. At 3 in the morning, parents (at least the way Chris and I parent) tend to just want to go back to sleep, so whatever we have to do that will get us back to sleep the fastest, that's what we do. We just put him in our bed thinking he was just a little scared and didn't want to admit it. When he woke up that morning, he had about 7 or 8 bites on him. Whoops! They looked like normal bites, so slapped some cortisone on him and sent him on his way. When we got home that afternoon, his left arm was swollen about twice the size, was hot to the touch, and kind of hard. ugh. The next morning, most of the bites looked that way... so off to the doctor we went. Turns out, luckily, he didn't have cellulitis or an infection or any kind. He was just allergic to the bug that bit him. Imagine that, my kid allergic to something!? Apparently, it wasn't a spider, nor a mosquito that bit him. She wasn't sure what it was. Lovely. I told her it happened in his bed, and she looked at me funny. I know she was thinking, "listen lady, your other child has UTI's all the time, the youngest always has bruises on her head, and now this one is coming in with weird bites that he got in his bed... should we call someone???" Geeze, Noah, if you wanted me to change your sheets, you could have just asked. You didn't have to come put bugs in your bed. After all, I just changed them, what, 6 months ago??? What more could you want? (**I'm SO joking... I think...)
So, for now, we will just add it to his list of allergies: Arythromycin, zythromax, and strange bed bug. That won't look weird when we are filling out medical release forms.
